IBM släpper fri access till 150 av sina patent

IBM tar ytterligare ett steg i sin öppenhet och sin strategi att stödja öppna standarder. De släpper 150 patent fria, nu är det “Free Access”, tidigare var det “royalty-free licensing terms from IBM”. Allt för att stödja tillväxten av öppna standarder. Ingen åtgärd behöver således tas för att använda dessa öppna standarder som IBM nu släppt. Detta mot tidigare då man var tvungen att teckna en avgiftsfri licens.

“IBM is sending a message that innovation and industry growth happens in an open, collaborative atmosphere,” said Bob Sutor, IBM’s Vice President of Open Source and Standards. “Users will adopt new technologies if they know that they can find those technologies in a variety of interchangeable, compatible products from competing vendors. We think customers will like this added assurance for the open standards upon which they have come to depend.”
